Prayer
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their evil ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 ( NIV )
The Midwest District is committed to building with God's help and guidance a mighy movement of prayer in our churches and throughout our district area of Kansas, Nebraska, and the Kansas City Metro Area. In order to encourage a grass roots prayer movement, we are developing the following strategic initiatives:
- Recruiting 100 strategic intercessors for each church planter and new church.
- Establishing church planting strategy on the basis of prayerfully discerning where God is at work.
- Asking the Lord of the harvest fields of Kansas and Nebraska to raise up laborers for the harvest (Matt. 9:36-38).
- Devoting considerable time in church planting team meetings to a season of prayer for intercession and seeking the will of God.
- Publishing a church planting prayer guide to encourage and call all churches to pray for our church plants.
- Recruiting a small group of serious kingdom intercessors in each church who will spend at least one hour each week together in prayer for evangelism, church planting, and the advancement of the kingdom of God.
- Publishing a quarterly prayer guide for the purpose of encouraging the people of God in our churches to intercede for our churches and pastoral and district staff members.
- Conducting prayer walks in church planting target sites and spiritually needy areas.
- Enabling our churches to become known as "Houses of Prayer" in their ministry areas.
- In cooperation with the EFCA Prayer Ministries, calling our churches to regular concerts of prayer and special seasons of prayer.
